Modern Greek literature is little known outside Greece. This is largery because of the language barrier. […] This anthology, the first of its kind in english, sets out to present a group of contemporary Greek writers who live and write in Jannina, thus continuing the literary tradition of this town. Our aim has been to introduce these writers to a wider audience and, with the aid of these translations,to help their voices to be heard outside this country too; and at the same time to give the English-speaking public a taste of literature from a Greek province.
