Country singer Billy Songhurst and Audacuty Vine have made a promise to each other – that they will always be together on Christmas Day. It is 20 December, and as Billy waits for Audacity at his uncle Braxton’s deserted farm in Creek County, Oklahoma, three months after she drove off and left him after a gig in Amarillo -the night Louie the goose died- he begins a dialogue that will take the reader on a journey backwards and forwards through time, down dusty desert highways, through empty Midwest towns, and back time and again to the Songhurst farm, where dark secrets and family ghosts lurk in every corner.
