The great demand for the first edition of the Macedonian Controversy made it necessary for Balkan Studies to sponsor a second edition. Since its original publication in 1954, international developments, and more particularly Balkan politics, had a considerable bearing on what is known aw the Macedonian Question. It as in this light that the institute asked George Zotiades to enlarge the second edition of his book not only to include recent developments in the region but also to take into consideration all the relevant published during the last decade.
