This first part of the fifth volume in the series The coroplastic art of ancient Cyprus is devoted to the small female handmade/wheelmade figures of the Cypro-Archaic I-II periods. The fourth volume dealt with the small male figures of the same period, and many of the prefatory remarks in that volume are equally applicable here. Once again the quantity of material available for study is vast, and this is especially true since female figures are far more numerous than male figures. During the course of writing Vol. V it became apparent that the quantity of material was such that subdivision into two separate volumes was desirable, based on method of manufacture and authorship of the volume.
